The presentation will cover the following topics:

1. States adoption of the NOAA Intermediate-High Curve

2. Nuisance flooding impacts (GIS from Coastal Resilience Framework)

3. Strategies: Green Infrastructure solutions at the neighborhood scale, consider climate change impacts in design solutions

4. Future SLR, flooding impacts & solutions (work completed in Southern Branch of Elizabeth River & Portsmouth)

5. ICAR and need for industry engagement in solutions.

Carol Considine is assistant dean and associate professor in the Batten College of Engineering & Technology, and Flooding and Built Environment program head for ODU’s Institute for Coastal Adaptation and Resilience (ICAR). Her research expertise is sea level rise risk, adaptation, and resilience and she is focused on applied solutions at the community and regional level.
