Virginia Civil Engineering Historical Locations Interactive Map

Map of significant sites and monuments of civil engineering importance in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. The referenced sites are long-serving public works projects exemplifying unique engineering features or having overcome significant technical challenges in design and construction. Some still actively serve critical business or defense purposes, while others have taken on a second life as  ambassadors of civil engineering's benefits in a capacity as publicly accessible  monuments. All represent the best in civil engineering practice to the Hampton Roads region, its many visitors and the wider world they serve.

The Norfolk Branch History & Heritage Committee brings attention to local sites and activities that illuminate significant contributions of civil engineering to the south side of the Hampton Roads region. Committee members share their enthusiasm for civil engineering history through presentations, articles and online forums to ASCE membership and the wider community.
